It turns out that Jorge Arias, best known from his time in WWE under the name Sin Cara, will not be using the Sin Cara name after all.
Arias changed his name in tribute to one of his idols as he will be going by the name, Cinta de Oro. Not only did he change his name on social media but it was also confirmed to Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet.
The tribute is to the man who previously went by that name as he was an idol to Cara and one of his coaches. He passed away in 2016.
It was also noted that the original Cinta de Oro’s sons gave Arias permission to use the name. You can see a photo of the three guys here:
A name change for Arias was expected despite him using the Sin Cara name when he made a surprise appearance over the weekend at an AAA event.
Arias is currently under a 90-day non-compete and WWE owns the Sin Cara trademark. Thus, he couldn’t use the name. His appearance on AAA programming and using the name could mean that he’s facing legal trouble. For more on that, click here.
