As noted a few days back, WWE released Alexander Jones (known as Troy McClain in WWE). He was recommended by John Cena and was discovered in Southern California and trained at Knox Pro Wrestling. Rusev came from the same school. He got a tryout in 2012 and his conditioning was top of the class and got high recommendations from Gerald Brisco and Jim Ross. He started in Florida in 2013. Ross and Brisco felt that he had the potential to be the next top guy in WWE (at John Cena level). His release from the company was said to be a surprise to some because he was thought to be a “Cena guy” and the thinking was that he would have been protected.
