Recently released WWE NXT talent Riley Osborne reportedly expressed significant reluctance about being assigned to the “WWE Evolve” brand prior to his departure from the company, according to comments made by Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live.
Discussing Osborne’s release, Alvarez stated that Osborne’s desire not to participate in the WWE Evolve project was made clear internally. “One of the big things was, there are people that they want to go and help out Evolve,” Alvarez said. “And I was told he did not want to go to Evolve, and he made it very well known.”
Riley Osborne was officially released from his WWE contract on May 2nd. Osborne did participate in matches taped for WWE Evolve back in February, before his subsequent injury and release.
Shortly after those tapings, Osborne underwent surgery for an ankle/foot injury on March 7th. His release came nearly two months later amidst a wider round of talent cuts.
Riley Osborne has not yet publicly commented on the specifics surrounding his release or the reported reluctance regarding the WWE Evolve assignment.
