REPORT: Chris Jericho Believed To Have Made Overtures To See Whether WWE Has Interest In Him

The speculation surrounding the future of AEW original Chris Jericho has picked up, with recent reports indicating there is “significant interest” from within WWE for him to return to the company when his AEW contract expires.

WWE Interest In A Chris Jericho Return

PWInsider.com reported today that there’s been a conversation within WWE about Chris Jericho returning. Among a lot of talents that were heard from this week, the belief is that Jericho has made overtures to see whether WWE has interest in him if/when his AEW deal expires.

A previous report from WrestleVotes Radio noted the feeling within WWE is that a deal is expected to be completed once Jericho is legally able to negotiate. “After speaking with our sources, we can add to the recent speculation surrounding Chris Jericho, we’re told that several within the WWE, including Active talent, would like to see him return to the company,” WrestleVotes reported. “Despite spending the last six years with AEW, Jericho has remained friendly with a number of people inside WWE, we are told, and according to that source, they ultimately do expect a deal to be completed once Chris is legally able to do so.”

The Chris Jericho AEW Contract Situation

This confirms and adds to a recent report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, which noted that there are people in AEW who believe Jericho will not be back with the company and could even be a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble. Jericho’s current contract with All Elite Wrestling is reportedly set to expire at the end of 2025.

He has been absent from AEW television since April, and his extended hiatus, combined with his recent “liking” of a social media post discussing a potential WWE return, has fueled the speculation.
