Report: Injury To Top Star Caused Scrapped Plans For AEW All In: Texas

With AEW All In Texas just days away, a new report has shed light on creative plans that were scrapped due to an unfortunate injury to former AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter. The injury has reportedly had a domino effect on the booking for the major event.

Hayter’s Injury And Its Domino Effect

According to a report from Fightful Select, Hayter suffered an injury during her match at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view in May and has not been cleared to compete since. Her injury was a factor in the timing of Thekla’s AEW debut later that month. An angle was created where the debuting Thekla attacked Hayter, writing her off television with the intention of building a program between the two once Hayter was cleared. However, Hayter’s recovery has taken longer than initially expected.

A Frustrating Setback For Former Champion

The report notes that AEW still hopes to run the feud between Hayter and Thekla upon Hayter’s return. This latest injury is a significant disappointment for the former champion, who had just returned to action at All In 2024 after missing more than a year with previous injuries. The specific nature of Hayter’s current injury has not been disclosed.

On the July 9 episode of AEW Dynamite, Thekla competed in a four-way match against Queen Aminata, Tay Melo, and Megan Bayne for the number two entry spot in the Women’s Casino Gauntlet match at All In. Queen Aminata won the match, meaning Thekla is not currently guaranteed a premium spot in Saturday’s gauntlet match.
