REPORT: Major heat on Shane McMahon for trying to book WWE Royal Rumble around himself

Shane McMahon made his return at the WWE Royal Rumble and while he got a good pop from fans who attended the show, there were people backstage who were upset about how McMahon handled things behind-the-scenes leading up to the show.

Ringside News reports that there is a “substantial amount” of heat on Shane, who also was given the role of lead writer and producer for the Men’s Rumble match. McMahon’s actions were said to be the talk of people in WWE today.

One source on the creative team reportedly said that McMahon “openly buried Jamie Noble” and that he tried to book the Rumble match around himself. It was also noted that McMahon was confrontational and he was adamant about putting himself over. It was described by RSN that he was “fighting with people to do so.”

The RSN source said that McMahon had the entire locker room angry after he was “fighting everyone” and booking himself to be in the final group of wrestlers left in the match.

A source reportedly said, “when Shane is more impactful in the Rumble than Big E or Owens, even people who don’t normally complain are complaining loudly today.”

The final four in the Men’s Rumble were Brock Lesnar, Bad Bunny, Drew McIntyre and Shane McMahon.
