A new report from Fightful Select has clarified the contractual status of Ridge Holland, revealing that the released star was on an “NXT money” contract, not a more lucrative main roster deal. The clarification comes after Holland announced that WWE would not be renewing his contract when it expires on November 14, a decision made while he is sidelined with a serious foot injury. The 37-year-old will be without his guaranteed pay while he is unable to work for at least the next six months.
According to the Fightful Select report, Holland’s original main roster contract was up in November 2024. At that time, he was offered a one-year extension at a significantly lower salary, approximately $200,000 less than his previous deal, which he accepted. That one-year deal is the contract that is now set to expire.
The report also notes that Holland was not paid any extra for his appearances in TNA, during which he was injured. The news that his guaranteed pay will end while he is unable to work has reportedly been met with disappointment from his fellow WWE talent, with one veteran stating that such a situation would have “never happened pre-pandemic.”
Holland had been with WWE since 2018, including being a part of the 2022 WarGames match at Survivor Series. However, he had been primarily featured on the NXT brand since December 2023. His last run in NXT was a significant one, as he captured the NXT Tag Team Championship with Andre Chase as a member of the popular Chase U faction, a group he would later turn on and force to disband.
Holland suffered a Lisfranc injury to his foot, which required surgery, while working a TNA match. While he has confirmed that WWE will be covering the costs of his medical treatment and rehabilitation, the loss of his guaranteed pay during his recovery period is an understandable point of frustration for Holland.
