Rob Gronkowski may be done with WWE, based on reporting from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport is reporting that Gronk has reached out to the New England Patriots about returning to football but he wants to play for Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Gronk appeared at WrestleMania as the host and there are plans for him to wrestle at SummerSlam but a return to football would effectively shut the door on him stepping into a wrestling ring since an NFL contract would likely prohibit him from risking an injury.
Gronk recently told “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” that a reunion with Brady is not out of the question. Gronk also said that he’s feeling good now and the only thing that has been holding him back from returning to football is his passion for the game. He said, “I like to stay in shape, but I’ve gotta get that feeling back.” Apparently, he got that feeling back since the interview.
Gronk stepped away from football in 2019 and has talked about his history with concussions playing a big role in his decision to step away from the game.
Sources: Retired #Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski has told New England that he’s interested in playing football again — and would want to do it with the #Bucs and QB Tom Brady. A trade would have to be worked out for this to happen.
