REPORT: Triple H Knew About The Rock’s Signing, Match With Roman Reigns When He Booked Cody Rhodes to Win Royal Rumble

The decision to have Cody Rhodes win this year’s Men’s Royal Rumble Match just got more interesting.

The change

The Rock is still receiving backlash for taking Rhodes’ spot at WrestleMania 40, where he is expected to face Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at the event.

Rhodes won the Men’s Royal Rumble Match, and most people in WWE were under the impression the night of the event, as well as Raw two nights later, that he would challenge Reigns for the title at WrestleMania.

As previously reported, only a handful of people knew that The Rock had actually agreed to do the match in early January as part of his deal to join the TKO Board of Directors.

Decision

Once it was known The Rock would be wrestling Reigns, fans questioned the decision and thought that even Triple H may not have known. That’s not the case, per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, as seen below:

“My buddy Jay told me that since his tweets are private I probably should note that the idea that Paul Levesque didn’t know about Rock’s signing with the company and him wrestling Reigns when he booked the Rumble is clearly not the case. He knew exactly what he was doing.”
