REPORT: Veteran Japanese wrestler signs with WWE

Meiko Satomura is headed to WWE.

According to a new report from Yahoo! Japan, she has signed with WWE to work as a wrestler and a coach. Per the report, she’ll be added to the NXT UK roster as she is slated to stay in London where the UK Performance Center is located.

She’s been in the pro wrestling business for 25 years and is the co-founder of Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling. She had a stint with WWE by working the Mae Young Classic tournament in 2018 where she made it to the semifinals of. In the middle of 2019, she was brought in to be a guest coach at the Performance Center in Orlando.

She started her career in the mid-90s and has competed in WCW and won many championships in Japan. Also in 2019, she had the chance to train with SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks in Japan at the Sendai Girls’ dojo.

Meiko stated in 2018 that she was interested in returning to WWE and she has done just that. WWE has yet to confirm the signing.
