REPORT: WWE Interested In Using TNA Champion During European Tour

WWE is currently in the midst of a major European tour, and reports indicate that officials are interested in bringing in a top TNA Wrestling star for a special appearance. According to a report from PWInsider Elite, the company has discussed using TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater during the United Kingdom leg of the trip.

The report notes that the creative idea involves Slater appearing alongside his former tag team partner, Je’Von Evans, on an upcoming episode of Raw. The two stars previously teamed together at Saturday Night’s Main Event last month. The potential reunion comes at a critical time for Evans, who defeated Bravo Americano on Monday’s show but was subsequently attacked by the Americanos faction after the bell.

Leon Slater has become a familiar face to the WWE Universe in recent weeks. He recently served as the final challenger for Oba Femi’s NXT Championship, losing a hard-fought match to “The Ruler” at NXT New Year’s Evil last week. Slater recently described that opportunity as “super cool” and noted the pride he takes in representing TNA on such a large stage.

While the report has not confirmed whether a deal has been finalized, the interest from WWE’s side is specific to next week’s broadcast. Next week’s edition of WWE Raw is scheduled to take place in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and will air live on Netflix. Slater is from the UK, making the location a natural fit for a cameo appearance.

As of today, Slater is also preparing for a title defense within his home promotion. He is set to defend the TNA X-Division Championship in a three-way match against Moose and Cedric Alexander at TNA Genesis on January 17.
