On Thursday, WWE shut down the Japan division of their company (WWE Japan LLC), according to a report by Gamebiz.jp.
It was noted in the story that WWE canceled three events in Japan in 2020 due to the pandemic.
For years, there had been talk of WWE expanding with NXT territories in different countries. They have been able to expand with NXT UK but have yet to establish a footprint for NXT in places like Japan, Australia, and Canada.
The status of NXT’s expansion is unknown but the news that WWE has shut down their Japan offices would indicate that plans to expand into that region are not on the horizon.
