Rey Fenix Seemingly Vents Frustration About WWE Booking

Rey Fenix has publicly signaled frustration with his current WWE situation, responding to an announcement about his brother Penta’s upcoming Intercontinental Championship defense with a pointed comment about wanting his own opportunities.

When WWE promoted Penta’s Intercontinental Title defense against Ethan Page at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 23, Fenix posted on Twitter: “I love my brother, but I will like to have my chance. #AN1M0”

The difference between the two brothers’ WWE experiences has become increasingly noticeable. Penta has become one of Raw’s most top babyfaces since his WWE debut, defeating Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, and Kofi Kingston before retaining the Intercontinental Championship in a ladder match at WrestleMania 42. Fenix, meanwhile, has struggled to find a meaningful footing on SmackDown since arriving with considerable hype following his AEW exit. He has lost roughly half of his matches, has not captured a title, and his last proper televised WWE match was in February, when he lost to Trick Williams.

Whether Fenix’s tweet represents  backstage frustration or a more calculated attempt to shoot his shot at the Intercontinental Championship remains unclear. Either way, the public nature of the comment and the timing alongside Penta’s continued rise have put a renewed focus on how differently WWE has handled the two brothers since their arrivals.
