Rey Mysterio has opened up on the reason that he has been absent from WWE television as of late.
He did so when he did an interview with Fox Sports MX. As recent as last month, the belief was that Mysterio would likely be challenging Andrade for the United States at WrestleMania after the two had a lengthy feud. However, plans changed when Mysterio was out of the match.
WWE decided to have Andrade team up with Angel Garza to challenge Street Profits for the Raw Tag Team Championships at the show.
Plans changed once again when Andrade suffered a rib injury that forced him to be replaced by NXT star Austin Theory in the championship match that ultimately saw The Street Profits retain the titles.
Mysterio stated that he was feeling under the weather when WWE started taping several episodes of Raw as well as both nights of WrestleMania. Thus, WWE doctors decided to play it safe and keep him at home in order to avoid any issues.
Mysterio added that despite feeling under the weather, he didn’t show any symptoms of having the coronavirus. He speculated that it might have been due to him traveling from Orlando to San Diego.
It’s been well documented that WWE continues to take safety measures while running TV tapings for the health of its talents.
