WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio’s feud with his son, Dominik Mysterio, remains one of the most personal rivalries in the promotion’s history. The animosity, which is part of their long-running storyline, was on full display during one of Rey’s recent media appearances.
While appearing on a video for Unlikely With Adrian Hernandez, Rey Mysterio was asked about the greatest heel of all time in WWE. A fan in the crowd shouted out, “Your son,” prompting a blunt, in-character response. “Fuck my son,” Rey stated, maintaining his storyline disdain for Dominik.
After his comment, Rey Mysterio elaborated on which performers he felt truly defined the art of being a heel. He first pointed to his late, close friend, Eddie Guerrero.
“When Eddie was a heel, he was vicious,” Rey said. “But you had that. You had that fine definition of being a heel and being like, completely not liked or like, let’s say Chris Jericho, that was a heel, but he made you laugh so much too.”
Ultimately, Rey Mysterio named another Hall of Famer as his top choice for the “greatest heel” title. “But if I had to pick up a real heel, oh, man, that is really good. There’s been so many,” Rey continued. “Ric Flair, without a doubt. He talked to talk, walk the walk. He’s one of those guys that if you wanted to be a bad guy, you want to be like him.”
The bitter rivalry between father and son began when Dominik turned on his father to join The Judgment Day. Throughout their feud, Dominik has repeatedly taunted Rey, claiming his father ruined his childhood and that he wished Eddie Guerrero was his real father.
After a long period of refusing to fight his son, Rey finally accepted a match at WrestleMania 39, which Rey won. The animosity continued, leading to a second victory for Rey at WrestleMania XL. Despite these wins, the storyline feud is far from over. Dom has found significant success as a heel, holding the Intercontinental Championship on Raw and defending it as recently as the October 20, 2025, episode of the show.
