Rhea Ripley addresses rumor about losing WWE NXT Women’s Title to Charlotte Flair

Rhea Ripley recently did an interview with where she spoke about a wide range of topics including a rumor that surfaced after WrestleMania 36.

Ripley dropped the NXT Women’s Title to Charlotte Flair at Night Two of WrestleMania 36. Days after the event, there was a rumor that the reason she dropped the strap was due to her having visa issues.

On April 7th, it was reported that Ripley had to return to Australia because her visa was expiring. There was also a belief that she would miss the TV tapings following the event due to the issues that would lead to her being absent for a few weeks.

Ripley was in fact absent from television until she resurfaced to continue her program with Flair several weeks later.

During this interview, she did confirm that she had to renew her visa but she didn’t have to go back to Australia to get that done but rather had it done while staying in the United States. She explained that due to the coronavirus outbreak, there were no flights back to Australia. Thus, she couldn’t make it.

Regarding the rumor that this was the reason behind the title change, she laughed it off.

“I sort of just laugh it off. Social media can be very negative at times. If this had been going round when I wasn’t as mentally strong as I am now, I would’ve taken it a completely different way and things wouldn’t have been as good… It’s quite funny seeing people saying that I lost because I had to go back to Australia.”

Ripley also talked about drawing inspiration from Becky Lynch and Paige, having a hard time when she initially settled in Florida for NXT, and more. You can read the entire interview here.
