WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has revealed he is preparing for an upcoming surgery and has asked his fans and followers for their prayers. In a candid post on his social media today, the 16-time World Champion shared the news alongside photos that reference his past health battles.
Flair posted a message to his followers on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Surgery Coming Up. Keep Me In Your Prayers. It’s All Fragile.” He included two photos with the post: one showing close-up marks on his forehead, and another showing a past photo of his stomach with surgical staples.
The photo of his forehead is a likely reference to his past bouts with skin cancer. Flair has been open about his struggles, having previously undergone procedures to remove cancerous spots from his skin, a common issue for performers who spent decades under bright arena lights. In 2023, he revealed he was undergoing treatment for skin cancer for the second time in three years.
The image of his stapled stomach harkens back to the life-threatening health crisis he endured in August 2017. Flair was placed in a medically induced coma and given a grim prognosis after suffering from a bowel obstruction and subsequent complications, including kidney failure. The emergency surgery he underwent at the time left him with the significant staples shown in the photo.
As one of the most beloved and recognizable figures in the history of professional wrestling, Flair’s post was immediately met with an outpouring of support and well wishes from fans and fellow wrestlers. The “Nature Boy” has remained active in the public eye, managing his “Wooooo! Energy” drink brand and making appearances at wrestling conventions.
