Ric Flair has offered some of the highest praise of the night for the WrestleMania 42 night one main event between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton, calling it one of the best matches he has seen in years.
Rhodes retained the Undisputed WWE Championship in a physically brutal main event that saw Orton catch Rhodes with an RKO as he attempted the Cody Cutter, leaving Rhodes bloodied and his left eye swollen shut by the closing moments of the match. Rhodes fought through it all to hit the Cross Rhodes for the victory, though the celebration was short-lived as Orton attacked him with the title and delivered a punt kick after the bell.
The match clearly left a strong impression on the living legend. Flair took to social media following the show to share his reaction.
“One of the Greatest Matches I’ve Seen in the Last Few Years. Congrats to Cody Rhodes but there is no winner or loser. Randy Orton, you were spectacular. You both represent so well at the highest level. I have so much respect for you both,” Flair wrote.
