WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has some strong opinions on the current WWE landscape involving Randy Orton. While he praised his daughter, Charlotte Flair, as the best wrestler in the world, he also took aim at how the company is currently booking one of its top veterans, Randy Orton, stating his belief that “The Viper” is being “underutilized.”
In a new interview with eScapist Magazine, the 16-time World Champion was discussing the best in-ring talents in the business. He put Randy Orton in the same elite category as his daughter, Charlotte. “The only person who I think is close to Charlotte, when he is on and healthy, when you think about in-ring timing and knowing where you are all the time, is Randy Orton,” Flair said.
Flair then questioned why a talent of Orton’s caliber is not being featured in a more prominent role. “Randy’s really underutilised these days. I don’t know why. I think maybe he made somebody mad along the way,” he speculated. “Randy’s not afraid to say what he thinks and that’s not always popular.”
Flair has been a vocal supporter of Orton for years, dating back to their Evolution days. Orton has been feuding with Drew McIntyre as of late, recently teamed with Jelly Roll at SummerSlam and worked a WWE Title program with John Cena after WrestleMania.
His daughter, Charlotte, is currently one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. The full interview with Ric Flair can be read in the latest issue of eScapist Magazine.
