Ric Flair has addressed the backlash surrounding his recent comments about the death of Hulk Hogan. Following a public refutation by Hogan’s widow, Sky, regarding Flair’s claim that “street drugs” contributed to the passing of the WWE icon, Flair took to X to walk back his previous claims.
In his post, Flair acknowledged the dispute and expressed a desire to move forward. ‘Okay Sky! I Got Bad Information According To You. I Should Have Never Mentioned It,’ Flair wrote. ‘Let’s Just Move Past This And Concentrate On His Legacy. Period, End Of Story. Let’s PRESERVE HIS LEGACY Rather Than Dwell On Any Negative Energy. I Repeat- Hulkamania Forever!’
This statement comes just hours after Sky spoke to TMZ Sports to flatly deny Flair’s account of events. When asked about Flair’s claims that Hogan turned to street drugs after doctors stopped prescribing pain medication, she stated, ‘That didn’t happen at all.’
Disputed Phone Call
Sky also disputed Flair’s specific claim that he spoke with Hogan the day before his death. She explained that Hogan was under constant care at Morton Plant Hospital in Florida during his final days, implying that the events described by Flair did not occur. She noted that the only medication changes Hogan experienced came following a neck procedure, specifically to protect his lungs. Two additional family sources reportedly corroborated her account to the outlet.
Original Comments On Podcast
The controversy began last week when Flair appeared on the Doubl3 Coverage podcast. During the appearance, he claimed he had a conversation with Hogan shortly before he died. ‘I shouldn’t say this, but what killed him was street drugs,’ Flair said at the time. The comments immediately drew attention and concern from fans and the wrestling community.
Clarification And Cause Of Death
Flair had previously attempted to clarify those remarks on Facebook. He stated that he was ‘only repeating what I know to be a fact through family members’ and insisted he never intended to demean Hogan’s legacy. Despite the public correction, reports indicate that the family holds no ill will toward Flair. They acknowledge that the two icons were close friends for decades but felt it was necessary to set the record straight regarding the circumstances of his death.
Hogan died on July 24 at age 71. The official cause of death was listed as an acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack. His family has since signaled a potential medical malpractice lawsuit related to his passing, suggesting they believe there were issues with his medical care rather than the substance abuse issues Flair had originally suggested.
Okay Sky! I Got Bad Information According To You. I Should Have Never Mentioned It. I Have Known Hogan Since 1979. Let’s Just Move Past This And Concentrate On His Legacy. Period, End Of Story. Let’s PRESERVE HIS LEGACY Rather Than Dwell On Any Negative Energy. I Repeat-… pic.twitter.com/JCIqL1p9CR
