Ric Flair Says He ‘Didn’t Like’ Charlotte Flair’s WrestleMania 42 Match, Wants Her Back As Singles Star

Ric Flair was not impressed by his daughter Charlotte’s WrestleMania 42 outing and believes it is time for her to return to singles competition.

Speaking on the Ariel Helwani Show, Flair was asked about Charlotte’s performance in the Women’s Tag Team Championship Fatal Four-Way at WrestleMania 42, where she and Alexa Bliss came up short against Brie Bella and the returning Paige. Flair did not hold back in sharing his view.

“I didn’t like her match at all, and I think that Ashley needs to be a singles wrestler, and I know she enjoys her relationship with Alexa, but if Ashley is not in a title picture right now, in my life and as a spectator, without her in the main event in a singles match,” Flair said.

He also took the opportunity to praise both Charlotte and Rhea Ripley for the quality of their previous WrestleMania encounters, making the case that their singles rivalry represents some of the best women’s wrestling ever produced on the grandest stage.

“The match she had with Rhea Ripley two years ago, they’ve never had a match like that ever in the history of women’s wrestling, and Rhea’s getting gold as well, I’m putting them both over,” Flair said.

Charlotte’s path following WrestleMania 42 remains to be seen, but the most logical direction appears to be back toward singles competition on SmackDown. Ripley now reigns as WWE Women’s Champion after defeating Jade Cargill on night two, and the two have obvious unresolved history given their WrestleMania record of one win apiece. Charlotte was also reportedly considered as the opponent for Cargill at WrestleMania 42 after it became clear Bianca Belair would not be available, before the spot ultimately went to Ripley.
