Ric Flair Tells Son David To Use Fliehr Or Wife’s Name But Not FLAIR

Ric Flair has walked back the legal threat against his son David and made a new allegation about a missing wrestling robe in a post on X that has since been deleted.

The tweet, posted at 7:54 AM on May 30, 2026, read in full: “I’m Obviously Not Suing My Son. Just Reminding Him That You Can’t Have The Best Of Both Worlds! Use Your God Given Name, Fliehr, Which Isn’t Worth A Cup Of Coffee. Or Your Wife’s Name, Who Has Had 3 Generations Of Success. Also, Please Don’t Sell My Robes That I Let You Use During Your Career As You Have Already Sold One. You’re 47 Years Old… Now Stand On Your Own Two Feet Please.”

The post clarifies that Ric’s earlier Wednesday posts on X were not literal legal threats but an attempt to pressure David over the use of the FLAIR name in his business, Green Flair Recycling, LLC, a Current-Active recycling company registered in Shelby, North Carolina with David R. Fliehr listed as the registered agent. In a previous post, Ric had said he had a $1,000-per-hour attorney and issued a Monday deadline.

The new post from Ric claims that David sold one of the wrestling robes Ric had allowed him to use during his WCW career in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Ric also addresses the name dispute directly, telling David to use either his legal surname (Fliehr) or his wife Robin’s family name, which he says “has had three generations of success.” The post was deleted shortly after.

Ric and David have been estranged for approximately nine years, per Ric’s own earlier posts.
