Ric Flair Unable To Be At WrestleMania Because He’s Under AEW Contract

In 2023, Ric Flair joined AEW after being revealed as Tony Khan’s gift to Sting ahead of his retirement at the Revolution PPV. Flair’s deal with AEW was very similar to Randy Savage’s with WCW in the mid-1990s. Tony Khan has confirmed that AEW had been getting paid by Wooooo Energy for all of Flair’s appearances.

In July, it was reported that Flair was not factored into any creative plans for the time being. The partnership between AEW and Wooooo was said to be effectively finished. Flair hasn’t been seen on AEW television since Revolution.

However, Flair won’t be at WrestleMania 41 to see whether John Cena will win his 17th world Title.

“I wish I could say that I was, but I’m not, and I understand why, and I’m not mad about it by any means. Every time they talk about the title, my name gets mentioned. They keep me relevant. It’s very cool. John is a great guy. Cody is a great guy,” Flair stated on Busted Open Radio.

A follow-up question was asked why WWE wouldn’t want him there. Flair said, “I work for another company. I’m sure I would be more than welcome. Absolutely, if I wasn’t working with Tony, I would absolutely be there. They couldn’t keep me out of the building.”
