The final segment of the October 21, 2025, edition of WWE NXT saw the official contract signing for the NXT Championship match at Halloween Havoc turn violent. Trick Williams and the champion, Ricky Saints, met in the ring to sign the agreement, but the segment quickly broke down after a heated verbal exchange.
Trick Williams, a former two-time NXT Champion, spoke first. He stated that even though Saints holds the title, Williams is still “the man” in NXT and intends to become a three-time champion. Williams then dismissed the champion’s status, claiming he does not view Saints as a star. “He said he doesn’t see Saints as a star,” adding, “and just sees him as a Trick Williams replacement.”
NXT Champion Ricky Saints responded by accusing Williams of imitation. Saints said that Williams is “trying to be like him.” He argued that he is “smoother, has more style than him, and is the face of NXT.”
Following the verbal exchange, both men stood up from the contract table to face off. Williams struck first, hitting Saints with a sucker punch that sent the champion reeling.
The attack did not keep Saints down for long. He quickly recovered, grabbed Williams, and retaliated by dumping him through the wooden contract table set up in the middle of the ring. Saints stood over the fallen Williams, holding the NXT Championship belt high as the show concluded. The two are now set to face each other for the title at Halloween Havoc.
