WWE NXT Superstar Ridge Holland has posted a video to social media, providing his first update since undergoing surgery for a significant foot injury. Holland, who was injured during a match for TNA Wrestling as part of the ongoing crossover storyline, appeared to be in good spirits as he began his recovery. He acknowledged the frustrations of his “bumpy ride” in the wrestling business but maintained a positive and determined attitude, vowing to come back in the “best shape of my life.”
In the video, which was posted on Saturday, Holland shared his post-surgery status. “So just laying here, just taking me painkillers, taking me some lovely hydrocodone, which takes the edge off slightly,” he said. He then reflected on the unfortunate timing of the injury, which came just as he was gaining momentum in the high-profile TNA invasion angle.
“For the past seven years it’s been a bit of a bumpy ride with the wrestling business. Just as I start to get rolling something happens, same again this time. TNA, a couple of good matches and then this happens. But again, we heal, we recover, we march forward and I’m looking forward to coming back and getting in the best shape of my life.“ He concluded with an inspirational message, “I’m using all these injuries and all these ups and downs. I’m using it as a lesson to my kids and anyone else that wants to take notice that it doesn’t matter what happens to you, really. There’s always a way back if you just believe.”
The injury occurred at a TNA television taping in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, during a match against Moose. Holland landed awkwardly on his left leg, and the match was immediately stopped. He was helped to the back without being able to put any weight on his leg. He later confirmed on social media that he had suffered a Lisfranc injury, a complex and serious injury to the mid-foot that often requires a lengthy recovery period of six months to a year. The surgery took place this past Friday.
