Rikishi On Jey Uso’s Booking: Let’s Hope WWE Gets It Together And Gives Him A Shot. WWE Ain’t The Only Spot In Wrestling

Solo Sikoa and The Usos’ father, WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi, continues to be vocal about how WWE is booking his son, Jey Uso.

The former WWE star has called for the fans to rally behind Jey to get him a title shot, whether at the Intercontinental or World Title. Rikishi previously said it struck a nerve that Jey didn’t win Money in the Bank and questioned why WWE would book Jey in a romance storyline with Rhea Ripley.

On his Off the Top podcast, Rikishi noted that he thinks WWE should give his son a shot because he shows up and works hard. He also pointed to his strong merchandise sales and crowd reactions as evidence that Jey should be given a shot.

Rikishi said, “Once the Money in the Bank thing didn’t go through, I thought, let’s see what they do now. Maybe they will give him a shot. Maybe they’ll set him up for the I don’t know, the Intercontinental belt. I think he deserves a shot to [at] the World Championship. I’m at this point where I want to call my son, ‘Go ahead and take a break. Obviously, the writers don’t know where to put you, or they can write something that is right for the character Jey Uso, The Yeet Man.’ I mentioned this, definitely, WWE is making money off The Yeet Man. The Yeet Man is making money himself. The only difference is The Yeet Man is working for his money. You see it every week. There is new merchandise of Yeet coming out…..The Yeet Man is out doing personal appearances. I mean, it’s not because he has to. It’s because that’s the demand of the fans. Of all the characters they picked, they picked The Yeet Man. So what I’m saying is, make no mistake about it. I am not in favoritism of my son. I’m speaking about what is happening because this could be any other wrestler. What is the case? Why aren’t you lighting this kid up and just letting him do his thing? I appreciate everybody…Let’s hope WWE gets it together and does the right thing.”

The former WWE star threw out the possibility of Jey leaving WWE for AEW to get into the spot he thinks his son should be in. He said that Jey is not trained to sell the pain he’s in or quit.

Rikishi said, “The kid is so good, WWE ain’t the only spot. He could probably go to AEW if he wants to write his own ticket, maybe more than what WWE is making on him…..Hopefully, they turn it around and do the right thing by The Yeet Man.”

Rikishi later added that he thought Jey might want to take a break if WWE couldn’t figure out where he should be and questioned why they had him on the show with his current booking.

On tonight’s episode of Raw, WWE Intercontinental Title Number One Contenders tournament. Jey Uso will work the tournament, although it’s unclear who will be his opponent in the opening round.
