WWE has released NXT producer “Road Dogg” Brian James, as first reported by Fightful.
James, best known for his run during the Attitude Era as one half of the New Age Outlaws, has been working behind the scenes in the company in recent years. There were reports a couple of years ago that he had resigned from his role as a Producer on the main roster but it was later clarified that he would stay with the company as a “utility player.” James later settled in a role backstage at NXT and at the Performance Center where he helped teach promo and character development classes.
Bryan Alvarez first reported today that more NXT releases are expected today but primarily from the office side of things.
James is part of the legendary Armstrong family. He has won titles in several promotions. He’s a multi-time Tag Team Champion and he’s won several singles titles. James is also a former a NWA World Tag Team Champion from his days in NWA TNA.
WWE issued the following statement to media outlets on the recent cuts:
“With the continued evolution of NXT 2.0, we’ve decided to part ways with some of the staff based in our Performance Center. We thank them for their many contributions throughout the years and wish them the best.”
