Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has received significant accolades for his acting career. On Monday, it was announced that Johnson had been nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Male Performance in a Drama for his work in the film “The Smashing Machine.”
This marks Johnson’s first-ever Golden Globe nomination. In the film, directed by Benny Safdie, Johnson portrays real-life MMA legend Mark Kerr. He is nominated alongside a competitive field that includes Joel Edgerton (Train Dreams), Oscar Isaac (Frankenstein), Michael B. Jordan (Sinners), Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent), and Jeremy Allen White (Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere).
His co-star, Emily Blunt, also received a nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her portrayal of Dawn Staples in the same film.
John Cena Reacts To The News
Following the announcement, John Cena took to social media to acknowledge his former rival’s achievement. True to his signature Instagram style, Cena posted a picture of “The Smashing Machine” poster without a caption to congratulate Johnson and Blunt.
Johnson saw the post and responded in the comments, sharing his gratitude for Cena’s support and his contributions to the wrestling industry. “Love ya man and as you know, always grateful for all you’ve done for the business we love. You are truly the GOAT. Bring your moonshine, I’ll bring the tequila,” Johnson wrote.
The 83rd Golden Globe Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 11, 2026.
