Rock N’ Roll Express to be inducted in the 2017 WWE Hall Of Fame

WWE has officially announced that the Rock N’ Roll Express will be inducted into the 2017 WWE Hall Of Fame. The news actually got out last week but had not been officially announced until Monday. Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson were arguably the top babyface tag team in the wrestling business during the mid-1980s.

They started their career as a team in 1983 in Memphis but they are most famous for their run in Jim Crockett Promotions where they quickly captured the NWA World Tag Team Championship. Their act spawned copycat teams such as The Rockers in the AWA and WWF and The Southern Rockers in Pacific Northwest Wrestling, among others.

Gibson and Morton landed in Jim Cornette’s Smoky Moutain Wrestling in the early 90’s and they had brief runs with the WWF during the Attitude Era as part of Jim Cornette’s NWA faction. They still wrestle on the independent scene and fans last saw them on TV during the Delete or Decay episode of Impact Wrestling back in December.
