Roderick Strong reflects on signing with WWE last year, comments on wanting to become NXT Champion

NXT star Roderick Strong recently spoke with The Miami Herald to promote this weekend’s NXT live events in Orlando, Miami, and Ft. Pierce. During the interview, he was asked about signing with WWE NXT last October. He noted that had been wrestling all over the world for 15 years and had been a mainstay in ROH for almost 13 years. He noted that he had a tryout with WWE back in 2014 and talked with William Regal. He noted that the timing was everything. He noted when he signed with WWE it made him speechless for a second but also very excited. He said that he planned on ending his career in ROH and that he had planned on working on the indies as well as in Japan more if he didn’t get to sign with WWE. “If I didn’t get the chance to go to WWE, that would have been a bummer to me, but I was just going to continue to do the best I could and continue my legacy.”

When asked about his goals and possibly winning the NXT Championship. He said that winning the championship is the first goal on his list then after that is making it to the main roster and becoming world champion. “Cement my legacy in professional wrestling. Show a lot of people that hard work and perseverance and dedication really pays off.”
