Roman Reigns’ return to WWE television is getting closer.
Reigns was eliminated from the Royal Rumble by Seth Rollins and attacked after the match by Rollins, setting up a WrestleMania 41 triple threat match with Rollins and CM Punk. It was later announced on WWE Raw that Reigns would be “out of action for the foreseeable future.”
While initially speculated to be a legitimate injury, this is a storyline-driven absence. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter previously reported this was also done to keep Reigns out of the Elimination Chamber.
WWE wanted to avoid pinning or submitting Reigns. He is expected to return before WrestleMania 41, but the exact timing is unclear.
As seen below, Reigns is now confirmed for the March 21 and 28 editions of SmackDown. It’s likely he will just appear on the shows, as he rarely wrestles on television these days.
BREAKING: #OTC @WWERomanReigns will be LIVE on #SmackDown from Bologna, Italy, on Friday, March 21 and London, England on Friday, March 28!
