Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman reportedly nixed “special request” segment on WWE SmackDown

Last week on WWE SmackDown, there was a segment planned that ended up not happening as advertised and fans were left wondering what happened.

WWE was promoting that Reigns would be making a “special request” on the show but that request was never mentioned when the show aired.

It’s no secret that Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns have a lot of input in their storyline and Ringside News reports that they had a hand in nixing what was originally planned for them on the show.

Just a few hours for the show, the social media team was advertising that Reigns would have a “special request.” It turns out that the changes happened after the social media posts. This isn’t the first time this has happened and in the last few years, we’ve seen many instances of matches and segments being advertised on WWE’s website and their social media platforms only for plans to change shortly before the show goes on the air.

RSN noted that this was just another instance of the right hand not knowing what the left is doing. It’s not known what that “special request” segment was supposed to be about.

What ended up happening on the show was Reigns and Jey Uso attacking Kevin Owens and Reigns shoving Owens off a platform and through a table. It looks like Owens vs. Reigns will be happening again at the Royal Rumble. We were told that Jimmy Uso’s return to WWE TV is imminent and he could be back at the Rumble to help Reigns and his brother Jey.
