Roman Reigns is a polarizing WWE Superstar. Depending on which city WWE goes to, the reaction for him is mixed. In major cities, the majority of the fans seem negative on him. Vince McMahon decided to keep the Universal Championship on Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, in large part, because he felt that the fans in New Orleans would not react well to Reigns becoming the champion. McMahon was right but he is not giving up on Reigns as a top guy. The only thing that could make McMahon go with someone else as his top guy a decline in merchandise sales. Unless fans stop buy Reigns t-shirts then nothing is going to change.
Reigns and AJ Styles are dueling for the number 1 seller position among full-time wrestlers. However, the person who is far and above everyone else is a part-timer…John Cena. Even as a part-timer, he is outselling everyone else in the company.
Other strong merchandise sellers include The New Day, Finn Balor, Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman. We don’t know how Rusev’s merchandise sales are but, as of a couple of months ago, his “Rusev Day” t-shirt was among the best-selling items on WWEShop.com and his merchandise sales were said to be one of the factors that convinced Vince McMahon to pull him out of the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal and to move him into the United States Championship match at WrestleMania.
