It is now confirmed that Roman Reigns will not be at the WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view next month. As previously noted, Cody Rhodes is featured front and center in the advertising for that show.
It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the plan is for Reigns’ first post-WrestleMania title defense to be at the 7/2 Money In The Bank pay-per-view at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
It was also noted that right now, the plan is not for Drew McIntyre to challenge for the title on that show but things change by the hour in WWE. The working plan is for McIntyre to challenge for the title at the 9/3 stadium show in Cardiff.
This leaves a slot open for a new challenger and there aren’t many credible names available for Reigns to wrestle. There was a tease for Shinsuke Nakamura a few weeks ago but Nakamura hasn’t been presented as a credible threat to Reigns and they have already blown through matches with Goldberg. Lesnar vs. Reigns is a possibility again but that match has been done so many times. At WrestleMania Backlash, there was some interaction between Reigns and Randy Orton so that’s a possibility and Bobby Lashley is also a possibility once he finishes his program with Omos.
