Roman Reigns vs. Oba Femi is the current plan for the night two main event of WrestleMania 43, Dave Meltzer reports in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Meltzer wrote that there has been talk this week that the two main events would be Cody Rhodes vs. CM Punk on night one and Reigns vs. Femi on night two.
“From what we were told, the latter is accurate but the former is not the current plan,” Meltzer wrote.
He said Rhodes vs. Punk “would make sense,” noting they are the two top stars on SmackDown and have been kept apart aside from their August 1 SummerSlam title match. “But right now that is not the plan,” he wrote, adding that “historically these plans will change multiple times anyway, whether due to injuries or other situations.”
WrestleVotes reported on Fightful Select last week that early WrestleMania 43 discussions included Femi vs. Reigns and Punk vs. Rhodes, and stressed they were discussed directions, not confirmed matches.
Femi had already pointed fans toward the match. On the Money in the Bank post-show on October 10 in New Orleans, Femi said, “Tribal Chief. No more running. It’s about that time.” Many fans had pegged Reigns vs. Femi for WrestleMania 43 well before the Observer report.
Reigns is the World Heavyweight Champion. Femi won the 2026 King of the Ring at Night of Champions in Riyadh, beating Jey Uso in the final.
WrestleMania 43 is set for April 2027 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the first WrestleMania held outside North America. WWE has not announced dates. WWE President Nick Khan said in September that the company is “already across the creative” for the show, “subject to any injury.”
