A significant update is out regarding the status of Roman Reigns. According to a report from PWInsiderElite.com, sources close to the production have confirmed that Reigns will be wrapping up his work on the film, which has been shooting in Sydney, Australia, on Thursday.
This clears his schedule and means he will be available to resume his duties with WWE as soon as the company’s creative team needs him. His return match is already being advertised, as he is featured on the official poster for the upcoming Crown Jewel premium live event on October 11 in Perth, Australia.
Reigns has been off WWE television since the Clash in Paris event on August 31, where he was the victim of a post-match assault at the hands of The Vision’s Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. The attack, which saw Reigns stretchered out of the arena, was a storyline explanation for his pre-planned absence to accommodate his movie filming schedule.
In the “Street Fighter” film, which is set for a theatrical release next year, Reigns is playing the character of Akuma. His return ahead of Crown Jewel will almost certainly see him try to get revenge on Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed for their attack.
For years, Reigns established himself as a top star in modern WWE history. His historic reign as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion lasted 1,316 days, a run that saw him defeat a long list of notable opponents, including John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, and Cody Rhodes, among others.
