Roman Reigns says he carried WWE through the ThunderDome era

Roman Reigns coming back from hiatus and turning heel as well as being paired with Paul Heyman last August was one of the highlights of the ThunderDome era in WWE.

Reigns went on hiatus for a few months shortly before WrestleMania 36 and came back to beat Bray Wyatt at the Payback pay-per-view event to become the WWE Universal Champion. Since that time, he has retained the title over the likes of Jey Uso, Kevin Owens, Daniel Bryan, and Edge.

Reigns did an interview with Brent Brookhouse of CBS Sports. This is where he discusses his legacy coming out of the ThunderDome.

“That’s my legacy coming out of the ThunderDome. Hands down, without question, it can be debated for great content on social media and WWE.com to put these polls and try to make an argument. But there’s no argument. There’s been nobody to ever carry the WWE product like I have over the past year and I stand on that.

You can throw anybody out. We can try and be nice and say, ‘Oh, Bayley! She just got hurt. She was the best.’ Come on, let’s not lie to ourselves. The Tribal Chief has carried the WWE for well over a year now and there’s no denying it.”

Reigns will make his next title defense as Universal Champion against Edge at this Sunday’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view event.
