Roman Reigns wins ESPY Award for “Best WWE Moment”

Congratulations to Roman Reigns.

As announced on ESPN’s Twitter account during the ESPY’s Red Carpet pre-show, Reigns won the award for Best WWE Moment for announcing the news about his leukemia being back in remission and that he would be returning to the ring.

Although the award was not presented on the main broadcast on ABC, this is a big win for WWE because they were never acknowledged in this way during previous ESPY award shows.

During the red carpet, Reigns was congratulated by Becky Lynch, Seth Rollins, Stephanie McMahon and Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

“For me to just to be able to be healthy was the only award I needed. This is just so flattering for everyone to kind of lift me up and show me that support system and love from everybody,” Reigns said. “It was never about awards or anything like that. It was just about awareness, it was just about sharing my story and hopefully, someone could use it for a little bit of hope.”

The other WWE moments that were in the running this year were Kofi Kingston winning the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35, Becky Lynch main eventing WrestleMania and winning both the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championship’s and Ronda Rousey winning the WWE Championship last year at SummerSlam.
