While Roman Reigns was victorious against Bronson Reed at WWE Clash in Paris, the bigger story occurred after the match when a vicious, sustained assault by Reed and Bron Breakker left Reigns being carried out of the arena on a stretcher. The post-match attack appears to be the storyline reason to write Reigns off WWE television for a period of time, as he is slated to begin filming a movie soon.
As Reigns celebrated on the commentary table, Paul Heyman tended to Reed in the ring. After returning to the ring, Reigns was presented with his shoes by a terrified Heyman. Reigns then applied a guillotine choke to Heyman before signing his shoes and tossing them into the crowd.
As Reigns celebrated, Bron Breakker appeared and speared him through the commentary table. Breakker and Reed then helped Heyman to his feet before Reigns could recover. As Reigns began to stumble to the back, Breakker ran back out and speared him a second time in the entranceway.
The two men then rolled Reigns back into the ring, where Reed landed his signature Tsunami splash. The attack prompted numerous officials to run to the ring, and a stretcher was brought out for Reigns.
The assault did not end there. With Reigns strapped to the stretcher board, Reed ran back into the ring and hit a second Tsunami onto Reigns. Jey Uso then ran out in an attempt to make the save, but he was also met with a spear from Breakker. With the ringside area cleared, Reed ascended to the top rope one last time to hit a third Tsunami on Reigns, who was still strapped to the stretcher. The segment concluded with Reigns being taken out of the arena on the stretcher.
The on-screen injury angle is designed to facilitate Reigns’s absence from WWE programming. He is expected to be away for for at least a month to film Mortal Kombat but is currently advertised to return in time for the Survivor Series event in November.
