Ronda Rousey On Paul Heyman: He’s One Of The Few People In WWE Who Really Encouraged Me Creatively

Ronda Rousey has been very outspoken about certain people in WWE following her stint with the company.

Rousey departed at last year’s SummerSlam, where she has since criticized the company and Vince McMahon, although she has said positive things about Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Ronda praised Paul Heyman for his influence on her career and for helping her.

Rousey said, “He’s one of the few people who really encouraged me creatively. He showed me I’m so much more than just what my body can do. That’s how so many people see me–as an athlete, as a fighter. It’s all about performing, being on camera, focusing on what I can do physically, but it was different with Paul.”

Rousey said that Heyman produced her segments during the second half of her first year with WWE and worked with her on promos. She credited him with being her first mentor as a writer and saw potential in her.
