Fightful is reporting that WWE has been pushing to get Ronda Rousey on this year’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
Bryan Alvarez later confirmed on Wrestling Observer Live that Rousey will indeed be returning at the pay-per-view. Alvarez said, “I was told that Ronda Rousey will be in the Royal Rumble.”
Rousey has not wrestled since WrestleMania 35 in 2019 where she lost the Raw Women’s Championship in a Triple Threat Match in a match that also involved Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch.
There were talks to bring her back much sooner but the pandemic and her pregnancy delayed those plans. WrestlingNews.co was told that WWE wanted to do a Rousey vs. Lynch singles match at last year’s WrestleMania. It’s unclear if that is the plan for this year.
