Ronda Rousey talks about her relationship with Natalya

This weekend Ronda Rousey will attempt to capture the Raw Women’s Championship. She’ll challenge Alexa Bliss for the strap at Sunday’s SummerSlam pay-per-view. Rousey and Bliss’ rivalry has been personal in recent weeks, with the former UFC champ’s good friend, Natalya, oftentimes getting involved.

Natalya’s father, Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart, passed away earlier this week. As a result, Natalya missed out on her scheduled appearance on Raw. In her absence Rousey had some heartwarming words to say about Neidhart to open up the show.

Recently, Rousey spoke to AMNY.com to promote this weekend’s SummerSlam card. During the conversation she opened up about her friendship with Natalya. Here’s what “The Rowdy One” had to say:

“I’ve known Nattie years before I started wrestling. She teaches me so much technically, obviously but I was coming into a new environment, I was nervous and felt like the new kid in school,” Rousey said.

“She really went out of her way to make me feel welcome and comfortable and part of the family. She’s been amazing since day one and I’m so lucky to have her as a friend.”
