Ronda Rousey On Vince McMahon: He Cared More ”About How Much Influence He Had On Other People’

Ronda Rousey has officially closed the door on her WWE career. During her appearance on Bertcast #700 with Bert Kreischer, the former Raw Womenโ€™s Champion stated she has no plans to ever return to the company. She cited the disorganized environment she experienced during Vince McMahonโ€™s final stretch in control as the primary reason.

Rousey described her second run with the company as frustrating and unstable, noting that creative direction constantly shifted while the roster was left waiting for McMahonโ€™s approval. โ€œThe first time? I was like, ‘Oh, yeah. This is, I’ll do it even better the next time.’ And then yeah, when I went back [to WWE], it was kind of like the death throes of the Vince McMahon era. It was when he was still around, but kind of like, not really. And then like, it was just all this indecision, and everyoneโ€™s kind of frozen because they didnโ€™t want to move without his permission, but they couldnโ€™t get it. It was just a mess.โ€

Rousey Is Done With WWE

After dealing with the creative chaos, Rousey said she has made peace with walking away from WWE for good. โ€œProbably not going to be going back. Iโ€™m grateful for the experience, but itโ€™s not my circus, not my monkeys.โ€

She added, “And I think Vince didn’t really care about how successful the company was or how much money he was making. He cared about how much influence he had on other people culturally. And so he was trying to impress his viewpoint of the world on everybody else through that. The bottom line be damned.”

Rousey debuted in WWE at the 2018 Royal Rumble. She went on to win the Raw Womenโ€™s Championship and headlined WrestleMania 35 in a triple-threat match against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair, which was the first womenโ€™s main event in WrestleMania history. She returned in 2022 to win the Royal Rumble and later captured the SmackDown Womenโ€™s Championship.
