According to Punk’s Instagram stories, he is in Los Angeles, which means he is nowhere near Washington, DC, the site of tonight’s AEW Dynamite debut on TNT. Punk did an interview earlier today at the Collider studios and he was still in L.A. as of a couple of hours ago.
The last word on Punk and AEW is that they haven’t had talks for quite some time and some people in the company weren’t too thrilled with his comments about them during his interview with ESPN in July.
During an interview with Collider, Punk confirmed talks with FOX about working on the WWE Backstage show on Fox Sports 1 but he said those talks were direct with FOX and there have been no talks with WWE. Punk also indicated that he is not interested in wrestling but he’s open to anything if the money is right.
Later in the day, Triple H told Sky Sports that he is open to talking with Punk if the desire is there. So, both sides are willing to talk. Now it’s a matter of one side reaching out to get those talks going.
As far as AEW goes…it doesn’t look likely that a deal will be made but never say never in the wrestling business.
