Last week’s Talking Smack segment with Daniel Bryan and The Miz had people talking and wondering if Bryan was going to wrestle again. I noted last week that there had been no talk within WWE about Bryan wrestling again. The rumors about Bryan returning were fueled by a contributor article on Forbes’ website claiming that WWE was open to the idea of Bryan wrestling again.
Dave Meltzer noted in the latest Wrestling Observer newsletter that the Forbes article was inaccurate and there has been no talk in that direction. Bryan has said in several interviews that he feels great and that he would get back in the ring if WWE allowed him to. Everything is in WWE’s hands. Bryan did get cleared by outside doctors but ultimately WWE doctor Joseph Maroon made the call not to clear him. Nothing will change unless Maroon decides otherwise.
If Bryan wants to wrestle elsewhere then he would have to wait until his contract expires in 2018. It’s actually a good thing for him to be back on TV in a weekly role because that means his contract is no longer frozen. If a wrestler is sitting at home due to an injury then the company can add on to their existing contract. It’s similar to what they did with Rey Mysterio.
