Rumor killer on Velveteen Dream having backstage heat in WWE

There seems to be a rumor going around that Velveteen Dream has some backstage heat with WWE. This started going around after WWE announced dream would be working a pair of EVOLVE events coming up.

It has been speculated the heat stems from Dream’s “Call Me Up Vince” tights at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn 4 for his match against EC3. Gabe Sapolsky addressed these rumors on Twitter. Sapolsky said the rumors of Dream having heat with WWE is simply not true. WWE is simply trying to help the independents and EVOLVE requested for Dream due to his history with the promotion:

“Let’s just kill this narrative now. Dream was requested by us because of his history at the MCW Arena in Joppa, MD. We wanted a homecoming. He was then asked to do Queens, to give the fans something special at La Boom. Dream was not “sent” by anyone, he agreed and wanted to.

“This is WWE helping the independent wrestling scene. This is WWE, EVOLVE and Velveteen Dream giving fans a unique, memorable and exciting experience. This is what is good for our business. Thank you.”
