Update on if WWE SummerSlam will be a four-hour pay-per-view broadcast

Update: Luca Franchini, who is an announcer for WWE on Sky Italia in Italy, announced on Facebook that WWE informed the network that this year’s SummerSlam will be 4 hours long and that they’ll need to prepare and make room for the extra hour for the broadcast.

Franchini mentioned that the show is now scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm EST instead of 8:00 pm EST, pushing the Kickoff Pre-show up to 6:00 pm EST.

Original: There is a rumor going around online that WWE may be holding this year’s edition of SummerSlam as a four-hour pay-per-view event. SummerSlam has been three hours long in the past.

The idea behind this is because WWE is bringing back top stars to make the event feel bigger. WWE is putting a re-focus on the event in an attempt to make the event more prestigious once again.

The 2015 edition of WWE SummerSlam will take place on August 23, 2015, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York City, New York. This year’s event marks the first since 2008 to be held outside of Los Angeles as Staples Center was the exclusive home for SummerSlam from 2009 to 2014.
