There has been a lot of concern from fans that the current storyline between Rusev, Lana and Bobby Lashley is being done to bury Rusev.
As I noted on Sunday, the angle is not meant to bury Rusev. In fact, when everything plays out, the long-term plan is for Rusev to come out looking good in the end. At least that is what I was told.
During an interview with The Irish Sun, Rusev described the angle as a “collaboration” when he was asked if he was told to this storyline. He also pointed to how the angle is getting a lot of views. I’m not so sure about the ratings but their segments have been drawing big numbers on their social media channels and those stats are used for their quarterly reports, even though they don’t make a ton of money on YouTube.
Rusev said that some slight adjustments have been made but he praised the angle. He said, “It’s great, I think we are in the best storyline currently going on and the best storyline that’s been around for years.”
This quote from Rusev will hopefully get some people to cool down on their hatred for the characters involved. Bobby Lashley recently said that he’s been getting death threats because of this angle.
Lana has also been dealing with the social media trolls but she’s been good at fending them off. Meanwhile, Rusev seems intent on continuing with WWE. Despite what Ryback said about his friend Rusev being in contract talks, Rusev has indicated that he plans on going back to Saudi Arabia. Although nothing is confirmed, it looks like he has signed a new deal or plans on signing soon.
This week on Raw, Rusev was attacked again. It started with Lana announcing that she is pregnant with Rusev’s baby. That led to Lashley attacking Rusev and Lana later revealed that she is not really pregnant.
