Former WWE Superstar Ryback recently commented on the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus situation and the fact that AEW and WWE are continuing to tape programming. Ryback would state that wrestling does not need to be taped right now and that the two companies are putting their talent at risk.
“there’s so many businesses all around the world losing out right now”
“I don’t like it” Ryback began. “I don’t, I just don’t think it needs to be going on right now. And I get what it is. This is tough, like there’s so many businesses all around the world losing out right now. It’s a horrible situation. But at the same time, it’s not like you have a business where you can for sure get it done and get everything you need to get done, [whilst] not putting anybody at risk. They’re doing the complete opposite.”
“At least though you’re taking the precaution of not spreading it if they show up”
Ryback then talked about the lack of ‘official’ coronavirus testing at both companies. “I’d say this for both WWE and AEW. Neither of them have come out and said this because they don’t have it. If they had coronavirus tests and COVID-19 testing? Where every time, every performer was tested before they go ahead and get involved in that? Then I could say you know what, as much risk as you are putting them in still for travelling and making them go out and stuff? At least though you’re taking the precaution of not spreading it if they show up.”
“But we all know that you can be asymptomatic and not have any symptoms”
The ‘Big Guy’ would then finish by talking about the asymptomatic nature of the pandemic, and how current checks possibly aren’t enough. “I’m not hearing that being done. Guys who made other comments there that ‘well they’re taking temperatures.’ But we all know that you can be asymptomatic and not have any symptoms and your temperature be fine. And those are the people spreading it. That’s what bothers me, and I know what I know. I just, there’s some really shady stuff going on with all of it.”
