Steve McMichael’s sister Sharon McMichael provided a sad update on her brother, all-time NFL great and former WCW star Steve “Mongo” McMichael. In response to a tweet from the @ThatsOurMongo Twitter account, Sharon says Steve can no longer move his arms due to ALS. Sharon took issue with the account “mocking” her husband but that is not actually the case. The account was actually set up to honor her husband and share fun clips from his wrestling career.
Steve was diagnosed with ALS with a 36-month onset in January and he revealed this to the world in April during an interview with WGN News.

The description for the campaign states:
“This Go Fund Me has been established by their friends to help defray the mounting costs of Steve’s daily care and medical needs. We know that Steve’s fans will want to help as he as inspired so many in his lifetime. He has raised millions of dollars for various charities and plans to use his notoriety to help raise money for families living with ALS. First, we must give Steve, Misty and their 13-year-old daughter, Macy some immediate care, comfort and peace of mind. We are searching for a handicap-accessible home and have put a down payment on a handicap-accessible van.”
CORRECTION: The original version of the article referenced Misty McMichael. The tweet below was actually from Steve’s sister Sharon. We have updated this post with the correction.
Steve McMichael cannot use his hands or arms due to #ALS, so this is NOT #Mongo. And, I formally request that you immediately stop posting about him out of respect for him & his family.🛑 If you'd like to mock or post about him after his death, politely wait 3 years posthumously.
